Leisa Gunton is an award winning artist who resides in the Ancient Booloumba Creek Valley. Leisa has been interacting with this pristine rainforest environment for the past 20 years. Her passion for the region means that she interacts with it’s abundance of natural beauty on a daily basis sometimes through photography, drawing and painting and yet it is her deep soul connection with the Earth and her love of the rocks and clay that has deepened her understanding of Booloumba.
Booloumba’s grandness, natural beauty, age old wisdom combined with the new life emerging, is what captivates Leisa's artistic and creative insights. It is this essence that enables Leisa to be creating unique pieces of ceramics. Leisa says that “Clay truly is the essence of the Earth, and it is with clay that I express how I feel. The Valley is a constant inspiration to me with its colourful rocks, crystal clear water and dense rainforest.”
Leisa’s passion for the creative arts has seen her successfully complete numerous qualifications in the artistic arena and her exposure to passionate teachers led her to find her deep love for working with clay. Most of her work is inspired by the energy and essence of the valley and many of her pieces contain traces of sand, ochre, rock, clay, ferns and leaves inbedded in them. Each piece is one of a kind and is a reflection of the day it was made.
